Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement biogeochemical models using Python, R, MATLAB, and other programming languages to analyze and predict environmental processes.
- Predict weathering rates and track weathering products in river and ocean systems to inform sustainable practices.
- Refine existing models to monitor CO2 storage and optimize carbon reduction strategies.
- Use large datasets and machine learning to improve model predictions and enhance decision-making.
- Collaborate with research and engineering teams to integrate models into our technology platform and drive innovation.
- Analyze model results to guide technology development and inform business strategies.
- Collect and analyze geochemical, hydrological, and environmental data to inform model development and improvement.
- Integrate data into models to enhance accuracy and inform decision-making.
- Work with data scientists and engineers to improve data processing and analysis, and stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in geochemical modeling, the carbon cycle, and oceanography.
- Propose new modeling techniques to improve technology and drive business growth.
- Collaborate with academic and industry partners on research projects to advance knowledge and drive innovation.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications to communicate findings and results.
- Document modeling methods and results to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
- Present findings at conferences and workshops to share knowledge and expertise.
Required and Desired Skillsets, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Strong background in geochemistry, computational modeling, environmental science, or a related field.
- Experience in geochemical modeling using Python, MATLAB, R, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with hydrological and oceanographic modeling techniques and programs.
- Understanding of the carbon cycle and geochemical processes.
- Experience with machine learning and large datasets.
- Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
