Control Engineer

Overview: We are seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer responsible for the conceptual design, component specification, system hardware design, and programming of custom machinery. This role supports both established products and new product development within the constraints of existing methods and standards. You will work closely with other engineers and technical staff, provide engineering support for field service technicians, and conduct technical training at client facilities as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Apply principles of electrical and electronic theory to design, program, and troubleshoot state of-the-art packaging machinery.
- Read and troubleshoot ladder logic within motion controls, including programming of servo drives (AB).
- Utilize design problem-solving skills in a team environment.
- Travel to customer locations for software or hardware repair or installations (approximately 20% travel for Allen Bradley, 50% for Bosch Controls).
- Create wiring schematics, program diagrams, and complete bill of materials.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and work well within a team environment while being self-directed when required.
- Manage time effectively with attention to detail and pride in work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in capital equipment design and service.
- 5-10 years of related electrical design experience.
- Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design documentation, utilizing SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD, or similar systems.
- Experience in designing stepper motor, servo, and touch screen-controlled capital equipment systems or machinery, with specific experience in the packaging industry being a plus.
- Former Allen Bradley PLC experience preferred.
- Good organization, communication, analytical, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 20%, including internationally.
