American Track is seeking a dedicated and detail oriented Human Resources Assistant to support the Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Assistant will play a critical role in maintaining efficient HR operations, managing employee records, and ensuring compliance with the company’s policies and federal, state, and local laws and regulations. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Assist personnel administrators and other HR staff with clerical support and with special projects as needed.
  • Assist in disseminating HR-related information to employees, including policy updates, announcements, and resources.
  • Track, monitor and relay outstanding applications to determine hire/rejection status with hiring managers.
  • Assist with job postings, applicant tracking, and scheduling interviews.
  • Works with external recruiters and employment agencies to identify and recruit candidates.
  • Facilitate and monitor the entire onboarding process for all hires to ensure completion of new hire and rehire related employee documents.
  • Process and onboard new hires and rehires in the company’s HRIS.
  • Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
  • Generate reports on HR metrics, trends, and key performance indicators.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, preferred.

Work Experience Required:

  • 3 + years’ experience in an administrative role required.
  • Previous HR experience highly desired.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
  • Paylocity and/or CmiC experience preferred.
  • Railroad or construction experience is a plus.
