Plans, directs and coordinates the day-to-day Human Resources activities and staff of an organization. The HR Manager is responsible for administering compensation and benefits, developing and enforcing policies, coordinating safety programs, and maintaining employment records.


Essential Job Functions

  • Serve as a liaison between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems
  • Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes
  • Perform staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, terminating employees, and administering disciplinary procedures
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives. Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview and select applicants
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, and employee relations
  • Plan, organize, direct, control or coordinate the personnel, training, or labor relations activities of an organization


Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience in HR with specific experience in management
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource
  • allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
