Job Summary:


We are seeking a skilled FSQA Compliance Assistant with knowledge of FDA food labels, FSVP (Foreign Supplier Verification Program), HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), and general food safety regulations. The FSQA Compliance Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining food safety standards, and maintaining effective quality assurance practices. The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and an understanding of industry standards and best practices.


Responsibilities:


- Maintain compliance programs to ensure adherence to FDA food labeling regulations, FSVP, HACCP, and general food safety requirements.


- Conduct regular verification activities for compliance, regulatory standards, and identifying any gaps or areas for improvement.


- Review and analyze food product labels to ensure accuracy and compliance with FDA regulations, including Nutrition Facts labeling, allergen declarations, ingredient statements, and health claims.


- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain effective food safety and quality management systems.


- Monitor and evaluate changes to FDA food labeling regulations, FSVP, HACCP, and other relevant regulations, and communicate updates to internal stakeholders.


- Conduct risk assessments to mitigate food safety risks.


- Investigate non-compliance issues, customer complaints, and food safety incidents, implementing corrective actions as necessary.


- Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to ensure compliance with FSVP requirements and maintain a robust supplier verification program.


- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to compliance activities and regulatory inspections. Including the maintenance of our document platform.


- Conducts and assists other team members on research for ingredients, label compliance, and other regulatory matters.


- Reports to FSQA Compliance Manager


Requirements:


- Bachelor's degree or a degree in progress in Food Science, Food Safety, or a related field.


- Knowledge of FDA food labeling regulations, FSVP, HACCP, and general food safety requirements.


- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance role in the food industry.


- Understanding of food manufacturing processes, quality control methodologies, and industry best practices.


- Familiarity with GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) standards, such as SQF, BRC, or FSSC 22000, is preferred.


- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and develop practical solutions.


- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.


- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.


- Professional certifications such as Certified Food Safety Manager, HACCP Certification, PCQI or FSVP Qualified Individual are a plus.


- Proficient in using MS Office applications and other relevant software tools.
