The Axel Group is seeking a motivated Estimator to join our client’s team in Portsmouth, VA This is a vastly growing contractor that specializes with structural rehabilitation, restoration, concrete, masonry, and waterproofing needs
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge and ability to perform detailed take-offs.
- Working hand in hand assisting Lead Estimator for overall coordination of functions associated with estimating including specification review, cost review, scheduling, risk assessment, and other related duties.
- Review specifications, drawings, and amendments to determine scope of work.
- Identify project risk and potential impacts.
- Attend Pre-bid meetings.
- Evaluate and incorporate GC requirements, site logistics, schedule, & scopes of work.
- Generate and manage takeoffs and estimates required for sales, pre-construction, and bidding efforts.
- Develop full quantity take-offs informing accurate estimates for all disciplines performed by this firm's trades.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of construction principles/practices required
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals
- 2 years of relevant work and industry experience
- Proficiency in using construction estimating software, such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam
- Excellent mathematical skills for accurate cost calculations
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and other technical documents
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
