Pinnacle Group is a distinguished Class A Contractor with extensive expertise in both governmental and commercial construction endeavors. We are seeking a skilled Estimator to take charge of preparing comprehensive and precise estimates across various contract types, including lump sum, line item, time/material, and design/build. The Estimator will be tasked with detailing materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs while thoroughly understanding the scope of work. Responsibilities also include reviewing and analyzing subcontractor quotes and ensuring compliance with all specifications and contract requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and proposals to create detailed time, cost, and labor estimates.
- Communicate bid details and scopes of work effectively.
- Prepare thorough estimates by completing quantity take-offs and conducting analysis for assigned scopes.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes through Invitations to Bid.
- Maintain clear communication with bidding trade contractors regarding their work requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships with both new and existing trade contractors.
- Assist in negotiating scope and pricing with trade contractors on awarded projects.
- Generate and track pre-bid RFI questions and manage addenda as necessary.
- Conduct risk and contract management for bids.
- Develop strategies to meet minority participation requirements.
- Manage compliance with minority business goals and wage scale requirements.
- Review estimates for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.
- Assemble bids and proposals for various contract types.
- Conduct value analysis studies to identify cost-efficient alternatives.
- Promote continuous improvement in estimating methods.
- Observe construction sites to identify unusual or challenging conditions.
- Assist in managing project documentation, including drawings and specifications.
- Serve as a liaison between trade partners, design teams, and clients.
- Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as required.
- Collaborate with the Director of Preconstruction to meet bid submission requirements.
- Track ongoing proposals using an online CRM program.
- Conduct turnover meetings with project management staff to outline project scope and key information.
- Represent the company in preconstruction and budgeting for larger projects.
- Foster a team culture that aligns with company values.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years estimating experience with a commercial general contractor.
- Familiarity with Federal, State, and Public Municipality estimating is advantageous.
- Proficient in using RS Means, Gordian, or similar unit price books for line-item estimates.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Ability to adapt to evolving technology and systems.
- Competence in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Attention to detail and follow-through.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive problem identification and resolution.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Willingness to learn and utilize current and future technologies.
- Ability to travel to job sites as necessary.
- Strong mathematical skills for calculations related to construction projects.
- The role requires physical presence at construction sites, involving both indoor and outdoor work.
- Overtime may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
- The position requires dexterity for operating office equipment.
- Employees must be able to stand, climb, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
