Job Title: Construction Estimator
Onsite: Virginia Beach, Virginia - No relocation assistance
Paid Weekly on Fridays (Mon through Sun Work Week) w/ paystubs emailed.

Pinnacle Group is a reputable Class A Contractor specializing in both government and commercial construction projects. We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will be tasked with creating comprehensive and precise estimates for various contract types, including lump sum, line item, time/material, and design/build. This role requires a thorough understanding of project scopes and the ability to detail costs related to materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and proposals to develop detailed time, cost, and labor estimates.
  • Communicate bid details and scopes of work effectively.
  • Prepare comprehensive estimates through quantity take-offs and detailed analysis for assigned scopes.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain clear communication with bidding trade contractors regarding project requirements.
  • Build and sustain relationships with both new and existing trade contractors.
  • Assist in negotiating scope and pricing with trade contractors on awarded projects.
  • Manage pre-bid RFI questions and track any issued addenda.
  • Conduct risk and contract management for bids as necessary.
  • Support the development of strategies to meet minority participation goals.
  • Oversee compliance with wage scale requirements and other bid components.
  • Review estimates for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.
  • Assemble and prepare bids and proposals for various contract types.
  • Conduct value analysis to identify cost-effective alternatives.
  • Promote continuous improvement in estimating methods.
  • Visit construction sites to assess conditions and challenges.
  • Manage project documentation, including drawings and specifications.
  • Serve as a liaison between trade partners, design teams, and clients.
  • Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and bid openings as required.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Preconstruction to fulfill bid submission requirements.
  • Work alongside other estimators on collaborative projects.
  • Track ongoing proposals using an online CRM system.
  • Monitor bid participation and review progress with management.
  • Conduct turnover meetings with project management to outline project scopes and key details.
  • Represent the company in preconstruction activities and budgeting for larger projects.
  • Foster a team culture that aligns with company values.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor.
  • Familiarity with Federal, State, and Public Municipality estimating is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using RS Means, Gordian, or similar unit price books for line-item estimates.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and systems, including Adobe and BlueBeam.
  • Capability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • This position requires work at construction sites, involving both indoor and outdoor tasks.
  • Overtime may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for operating office equipment.
  • Physical activity may include standing, climbing, kneeling, or lifting up to 50 pounds.
