Position Summary:

Bull City Talent Group's direct client has an immediate need for a Microsoft Business Intelligence Team Lead to lead the ongoing support and continuous improvement of their BI environment. This role will be focused primarily on designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining BI interfaces using query tools, data visualization/interactive dashboards, adhoc reporting, and data modeling tools. This position will provide technical and team leadership through delegation, coaching, and mentorship as well as participate in the multination Business Analytics Competence Center group.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing a detailed technical design for enterprise solutions.
  • Lead Data Architect and Analyst for all data repositories for Business Intelligence (BI) and data warehouse (DW) solutions.
  • Provide project leadership responsibilities to help functional departments identify and solve their most critical data, reporting and analytical challenges.
  • Perform tasks assignments and resource planning for all US BI initiatives both on an on-going basis and ad-hoc basis.
  • Provide oversight for day-to-day operational management of BI Platform such as resource management, CI/CD processes (e.g. Devops), SLA management, service requests, application upgrades and access management.
  • Collaborate internally and globally to lead initiatives to define key business metrics, drive the vision, provide support and solutions through automated dashboards and data self-service analytic capabilities and ensure compliance for data privacy, protection and security.
  • Provide expert guidance, mentoring to include and critical analysis of proposed changes during code review or unit testing.
  • Advise team members on complex technical problems including specifying proper designs and use of new and existing tools or mechanisms to solve common problems.
  • Oversee the on-going administration and support including user and security administration, performance tuning, application installation, and upgrades.
  • Work closely with technical, business, or consulting teams internally/externally to ensure alignment and coordination across all areas for a seamless implementation of existing and new systems.
  • Develop solutions to present the data through standard reports and creative visualization functional dashboards.
  • Maintain business intelligence models to design, develop and generate both standard and ad-hoc reports.
  • Solve ambiguous challenges by executing sophisticated quantitative and advanced modeling to deliver actionable insights.
  • Organize and combine information from multiple internal and external sources to solve problems.
  • Coordinate with end users to determine the business data reporting/analysis requirements then translating the business needs into technical specifications.
  • Develop dimension and fact tables for all data repositories.
  • Design, code, and test major data reporting features, as well as work jointly with other team members to provide complex reporting enhancements.
  • Recommend new ideas in modelling, integration data activities to propose enhancements, modifications to optimize business intelligence processes.
  • Peer review all BI development and conduct testing measures (manual or automated) for all new and existing code to ensure there are no errors and the business users will have all the features and functions as intended.
  • Automate or simplify self-service support for customers.
  • Participate with identification of data sources (frequency of updates – full/delta), ETL processes, and the reporting layer.
  • Maintain a strong competency in python, PowerShell, t-sql, DAX, Web Services (e.g. REST) and any other languages with a focus on data engineering and data science as they arise.
  • Research and development with deep learning frameworks, for example, PyTorch, Torch, TensorFlow, Caffe.
  • Maintain currency with respect to technical and professional skills by attending training classes and seminars as needed.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of hands-on MS Power BI experience
  • High-level proficiency and experience with T-SQL, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or other related ETL tools
  • High-level proficiency in row-oriented and column-oriented relational database systems, as well as document-oriented database systems
  • Experience in manipulating data sets using SQL or other programming/scripting languages
  • Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Background in data warehouse design, dimensional modeling and data mining
  • In depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (extract, transform, load) framework
  • Familiarities with various BI technologies
  • Strong business acumen and analytical mind with problem solving aptitude
  • Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational and project management skills
  • Exposure to Cloud Technologies
