Position:

We are looking to grow our team with an exceptional Protein Scientist. The successful candidate will have a proven track record and expertise in protein chemistry, protein biology, and protein purification in a fast-paced and dynamic laboratory environment.


Key Responsibilities:

·      Design protein molecules, including membrane-associated and soluble target proteins and tags, employing rational and creative approaches.

·      Conduct protein structure analysis and modeling utilizing state of the art modeling and design software to explore protein structures and sequences. Conduct various forms of protein and antibody expression and purification process development and optimization.

·      Follow and provide updates on the state-of-art protein engineering technology and literature.

·      Participate in new product development strategy by developing new or improving the current protein purification downstream process to promote product quality.

·      Perform laboratory experiments to develop, assess, or transfer methods/procedures, specifically focusing on protein purification and analyses.

·      Prepare protein samples for stat collection, processing and structure refinement.

·      Develop and build the foundation of protein-protein interaction bioassays by providing technical and scientific support.

·      Perform in-depth data analysis and interpretation.

·      Prepare abstracts and present posters at scientific meetings. Develop and maintain lab procedures, documentation, and organizational processes, such as annual cleanouts and equipment calibrations.

·      Collaborate closely with scientists to identify and address workflow bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.

·      Communicate findings and discuss the relevance of data with a multi-discipline team consisting of upstream and downstream process development scientists, quality control, quality assurance, process engineers, and customers.

·      Proactively anticipate, troubleshoot, and resolve problems associated with laboratory work, including responding to off-hours emergencies.

·      Perform complex laboratory experiments and other duties as required.

·      Utilize all relevant software for experiments and equipment, maintaining accurate records.

·      Maintain a detailed lab notebook and accurate records according to GLP.

·      Provide training to junior scientists in R&D.

·      Coach junior scientists in R&D on creating a detailed lab notebook and accurate records according to good lab practices (GLP).

·      Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team of scientists, contributing skills and ideas to projects.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Protein Chemistry, Biochemistry, Immunology, virology or related field.
  • 3+ year post-doctoral practical experience in protein chemistry, expression, purification, and protein-engineering; knowledge in protein structure analyses.
  • Knowledge and expertise in performing membrane-associated and soluble protein, and tag design and engineering.
  • Expertise in membrane protein, viral-like particle and soluble protein expression and purifications; preferable experience using AKTA system.
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture and transfection with a good understanding of cell biology.
  • Technical experience with protein-protein interaction tests, including solid phase binding, binding kinetics and affinity, fluorescence and bead-based assays.
  • Proficiency with molecular biology techniques such as mammalian expression construct design, PCR and RT-PCR,
  • High attention to detail, learning new skills and quality standards.
  • Proven ability to solve problems actively, think critically and creatively, and work independently on agreed priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate within a highly cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong team player. Ability to hold professional discussions with individuals of diverse personalities and work styles.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
