Position Overview:

We are in search of an outstanding Protein Scientist to enhance our team. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background and expertise in protein chemistry, protein biology, and protein purification within a fast-paced laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop protein molecules, including both membrane-associated and soluble target proteins and tags, utilizing both rational and innovative strategies.
  • Conduct protein structure analysis and modeling using cutting-edge software to investigate protein structures and sequences. Engage in various forms of protein and antibody expression, along with purification process development and optimization.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in protein engineering technology and relevant literature.
  • Contribute to new product development strategies by enhancing current protein purification downstream processes to ensure product quality.
  • Execute laboratory experiments aimed at developing, evaluating, or transferring methods and procedures, with a focus on protein purification and analysis.
  • Prepare protein samples for statistical collection, processing, and structural refinement.
  • Establish and develop the foundation for protein-protein interaction bioassays by offering technical and scientific support.
  • Perform comprehensive data analysis and interpretation.
  • Prepare abstracts and present findings at scientific conferences. Maintain and develop laboratory procedures, documentation, and organizational processes, including routine cleanouts and equipment calibrations.
  • Work closely with scientists to identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate findings and discuss data relevance with a multidisciplinary team comprising upstream and downstream process development scientists, quality control, quality assurance, process engineers, and clients.
  • Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve laboratory-related issues, including addressing off-hours emergencies.
  • Conduct complex laboratory experiments and fulfill additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Utilize relevant software for experiments and equipment, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook and accurate records in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Provide mentorship to junior scientists in research and development.
  • Guide junior scientists in maintaining detailed laboratory notebooks and adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team of scientists, contributing skills and insights to various projects.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Protein Chemistry, Biochemistry, Immunology, Virology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral practical experience in protein chemistry, expression, purification, and protein engineering; familiarity with protein structure analysis.
  • Expertise in designing and engineering membrane-associated and soluble proteins and tags.
  • Proficient in expressing and purifying membrane proteins, viral-like particles, and soluble proteins; experience with AKTA systems is preferred.
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture and transfection, with a solid understanding of cell biology.
  • Technical proficiency in protein-protein interaction assays, including solid-phase binding, binding kinetics, affinity measurements, fluorescence, and bead-based assays.
  • Strong command of molecular biology techniques such as mammalian expression construct design, PCR, and RT-PCR.
  • High attention to detail, eagerness to learn new skills, and commitment to quality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively solve problems, think critically and creatively, and work independently on established priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to collaborate within a highly cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong team player with the ability to engage in professional discussions with individuals of diverse personalities and work styles.
  • Exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
