This position will be a full-time onsite position located in our manufacturing facility in Norwalk, Ohio.


Summary of the Manufacturing Engineer Position

Responsibilities in analyzing, planning and implementing new production equipment and providing solid manufacturing plans. Leading function in equipment and process optimization activities on site to foster continuous improvement. Strong interdisciplinary working method is required for performing all tasks which involves contact with Product Development, Sales, Cost Estimating, Purchasing, EHS and global functions. Working according to Autoneum’s principles is mandatory.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks and activities according to all safety requirements with consideration for ergonomics and environment. Actively support the continuing development of a safety culture.
  • Coordinate the implementation of new production equipment and operator training to meet standards and final sign-off requirements.
  • Support procurement decisions by systematic project management in an interdisciplinary working environment.
  • Develop production layouts according to group standards.
  • Plan and implement equipment improvement by analyzing current production equipment and processes.
  • Perform feasibility studies by verifying cycle times vs. tact times for the purpose of creating capacity, staffing and line balance leveling plans.
  • Lead cost reduction projects and troubleshooting activities with Product Development Department
  • Develop, implement and monitor systems to ensure optimized manufacturing feasibility by providing input to product engineering and participating in design reviews in early phases of projects.
  • Utilize previous launch experiences to create/maintain process and equipment standards for use in specifying, quoting, and procuring prototype and production equipment.
  • Participate and support cross-functional team to develop equipment and process standards and provide solutions to achieve key launch deliverables.
  • Benchmark existing processes and products and share best practices to ensure effective implementation of new technology in the production of new products and continuous improvement of existing products.
  • Support plant engineering personnel regarding building plans and construction progress for new or modified facilities to optimize process flow and floor space utilization.
  • Support Program Management in preparing capital projects and acquire quotes to justify new equipment, acquisitions or continuous improvement opportunities
  • Willing and able to travel as required to manufacturing plants and equipment suppliers to support assigned programs
  • Conduct business in a professional manner and follow all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned


Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, related technical degree or equivalent work experience
  • Must be familiar with automotive related component drawings and math data files
  • Minimum 3 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is required, including project management, equipment design and build, and process engineering
