Overview of the Role
This full-time position is based in our manufacturing facility in Norwalk, Ohio, where the selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, planning, and executing the implementation of new production equipment while establishing robust manufacturing strategies. The role demands a proactive approach to equipment and process optimization to promote continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety protocols while considering ergonomics and environmental factors, contributing to the development of a strong safety culture.
- Oversee the deployment of new production machinery and ensure comprehensive operator training to meet operational standards.
- Facilitate procurement processes through systematic project management in a collaborative environment.
- Design production layouts that align with group standards.
- Analyze current production equipment and processes to plan and implement necessary improvements.
- Conduct feasibility assessments by comparing cycle times with tact times to develop capacity, staffing, and line balancing plans.
- Lead initiatives aimed at cost reduction and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with the Product Development Department.
- Establish, implement, and monitor systems that enhance manufacturing feasibility by engaging with product engineering and participating in early design reviews.
- Leverage prior launch experiences to maintain process and equipment standards for prototype and production equipment specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop equipment and process standards, providing solutions to meet critical launch objectives.
- Benchmark existing processes and products, sharing best practices to facilitate the effective integration of new technologies in product production and the continuous enhancement of current offerings.
- Assist plant engineering teams with building plans and construction progress for new or modified facilities to optimize workflow and space utilization.
- Support Program Management in preparing capital project proposals and obtaining quotes for new equipment or improvement initiatives.
- Be prepared to travel as necessary to support assigned programs at manufacturing plants and equipment suppliers.
- Conduct all business interactions professionally while adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
- Familiarity with automotive component drawings and mathematical data files is essential.
- A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting is required, encompassing project management, equipment design and construction, and process engineering.
