Trillium Construction is currently seeking an Estimator specializing in Commercial, Civil, and Industrial Construction for a client in Nashville, TN. Our client offers a comprehensive range of preconstruction planning and construction management services for both the public and private sectors.

Responsibilities:

Organization, flexibility, outstanding customer focus, and strong communication skills are critical for performing the following duties, which include but are not limited to:

  • Create Project Estimates: Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for projects.
  • Prepare High-Level Takeoffs: Apply unit pricing for accurate project estimation.
  • Solicit and Coordinate Trade Contractors: Ensure complete scope coverage on projects by managing multiple trade contractors.
  • Prepare and Coordinate RFP Documents: Utilize schedule information to estimate general conditions and other schedule-driven items.
  • Compare Scopes: Use leveling charts or scope comparison sheets to identify the lowest complete bids.
  • Identify Required Trades/Scopes: Determine necessary trades/scopes for projects, with or without a complete specification manual.
  • Perform Archive Filing: Gather and organize historical cost data.
  • Find Potential Bid Opportunities: Assess the quality of jobs aligning with Pinnacle’s current and future goals.
  • Attend Pre-Bid Meetings and Job Walks: Participate in these events to gain insights and information.
  • Manage Information Gathering: Delegate the collection of information from local government and private entities that may affect projects (e.g., permits, hearings).
  • Manage Addendum Logs: Distribute documents from customers/clients to subcontractors.
  • Provide Direction: Guide new estimators and engineers as they join the team.
  • Solicit New Bidders: Aid in the pre-qualification processes for future projects.
  • Provide Training: Train other estimators and interns.
  • Ensure Efficient Project Turnover: Manage the complete and efficient turnover of projects to operations.
  • Coordinate Estimate Review Meetings: Effectively communicate with the operations team.
  • Assist with Change Orders: Help the project management team accurately capture additional costs.
  • Multitask: Handle multiple estimates simultaneously.

Required Skills:

  • Experience: Minimum of three years in construction operations, including exposure to materials management and project operations.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to multi-task efficiently.
  • Independence: Work independently to achieve common goals.
  • Presentation Skills: Create and present professional presentations to owners.
  • Mathematical Skills: Possess applicable mathematical skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with building/estimating techniques and software such as On-Screen Takeoff (OST), PlanSwift, WinEst, BuilderTrend, Building Connected, and Bluebeam/PDF.
  • Software Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Projects.
  • Professionalism: Proven positive and professional attitude, with strong customer service skills.
  • Communication: Ability to interpret and communicate Pinnacle’s values.

Education:

  • Degree: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
