About the Role: The Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health (MACGH) seeks a senior-level employee to oversee the GameSense program and other responsible gambling initiatives. This primarily remote position, reporting to the CEO, involves managing staff, budgets, and general GameSense operations, developing new funding opportunities, and maintaining external relations. Key responsibilities include supervising and supporting the GameSense team, leading hiring and training efforts, overseeing the budget, meeting weekly with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission Responsible Gaming team, producing quarterly reports and presentations, attending and contributing to all relevant Massachusetts Gaming Commission and Lottery Commission meetings, and developing responsible gambling educational activities.


The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in business, public administration, non-profit management, public health, or human services, with ideally over 10 years of experience in public health and/or problem gambling with at least 7 years of supervisory experience. This person should have strong skills in grant writing, fundraising, budgeting, fiscal management, communication, and conflict resolution. The role also requires maintaining relationships with the gaming industry, attending GameSense leadership meetings and conferences, and assisting with legislative and advocacy strategies. Travel to New England, Vermont, and Michigan is required.


Key Responsibilities:


Staff Supervision and Budget Management:


  • Supervise and support the GameSense (GS) team.
  • Lead hiring and training efforts.
  • Oversee the budget for GS needs.


General GameSense Operations and Grant Management:


  • Meet weekly with the MGC Responsible Gaming team.
  • Produce quarterly reports and presentations for the MGC
  • Attend all required MGC and Lottery Commission meetings.
  • Sole owner of the development and deployment of responsible gambling educational activities. 


New Program Funding and Development:


  • Assist with grant writing and fundraising.
  • Recommend potential grants.


External Relations:


  • Maintain relationships with the gaming industry.
  • Attend GameSense leadership meetings and conferences.
  • Assist with legislative and advocacy strategies.


Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree in business, public administration, non-profit management, public health, or human services.
  • 10+ years in public health-related field, problem gambling experience is a plus. 
  • 7+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with grant writing and fundraising.
  • Strong budgeting and fiscal management skills.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
