We offer comprehensive consulting and execution services from start to finish.


Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for an M&P Consulting Engineer at MTech Engineering Services, LLC. The M&P Consulting Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks, client communications, and project management and execution. The M&P Consultant Engineer will demonstrate an ability to work with limited to some supervision, and in collaboration with others, effectively interfacing and integrating their activities within large engineering organizations. This role is primarily remote with periodic travel required to various client and test lab locations and company headquarters in Cloquet, MN, just outside of Duluth, MN.


  • Apply fundamental knowledge of Materials Science and Engineering to all aspects of composite materials and process development, testing, inspection, and certification activities.
  • Research new composite materials and technologies. Complete trade studies and provide recommendations.
  • Develop effective training materials and transfer knowledge.
  • Generate and review material and process specifications, test plans, work instructions, and test reports.
  • Support fabrication and execution for materials characterization testing.
  • Complete statistical analysis of test data and generate material allowables.
  • Support nondestructive inspection of composite materials, probability of detection studies, and acceptable defect limit determination and substantiation.
  • Support process control projects to develop and maintain stable and reliable fabrication processes.
  • Support implementation of suggested and recommended materials and processes.
  • Domestic/international travel may be required (up to 30%).


Qualifications

  • Experience with a broad range of aerospace materials and processes.
  • Experience with qualification of composite materials for aerospace applications.
  • Experience with industry standards and handbook such as ASTM, ASM, NASA, AIAA, ASTM, MIL Specs, CMH-17.
  • Knowledge of FAA aircraft certification requirements for 14 CFR Part 23 and Part 25 and military qualifications.
  • Familiarity with statistical software, including Minitab, JMP, or similar.
  • Experience with composite nondestructive inspection methods.
  • Knowledge of and experience with composite materials characterization methods and equipment.
  • Experience solving problems related to M&P in a test lab and manufacturing operational setting.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team in both remote and in-person settings.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to manage multiple work platforms.
  • Proactive and efficient delivery of communication and follow-up.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with others from a variety of disciplines to solve problems and prioritize tasks and projects.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, documentation, and ability to present written technical reports and oral presentations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Material Science Engineering or related Engineering field. Master’s Degree preferred.
