Summary

The Logistics Manager manages the daily activities of the shipping and receiving departments operating in multiple locations. The role provides leadership, direction and motivation to the team to successfully and effectively accomplish operational goals and ensure optimum performance.


Key Activities


  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and conditions of shipments.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow.
  • Determines shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Arranges transportation that optimizes service and cost.
  • Inspects incoming materials and notifies appropriate staff of potential quality issues.
  • Ensures shipping and receiving areas are always organized and clean, meeting all compliance factors.
  • Ensures all employees are following in compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and other company-related policies and procedures.
  • Compiles and maintains applicable metrics as required.
  • Verifies customer manifest, work order, shipping order or requisition to determine items to be moved gathered or shipped.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer programs.
  • Inputs data into shipping and receiving schedule.
  • Supervises and trains personnel to achieve corporate objectives in quality and productivity.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains effective shipping and receiving processes.
  • Performs root cause analysis on shipping/receiving errors and leads efforts to improve quality.
  • Maintains records for all inbound receipts per documented processes as well as non-conforming product, purchase order, or damaged shipments.
  • Conducts meetings with assigned staff to communicate company policy, process changes, workloads, safety topics.
  • Maintains acceptable production and quality levels to ensure the performance metrics of the business are met.

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.


Educations & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred or comparable experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful managerial leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, running a warehouse department, and/or working in operations.
