Division Overview:

The role of the Montana Board of Crime Control (MBCC) is to promote public safety by enhancing the coordination and strengthening the performance of the criminal and juvenile justice systems.The Division and the MBCC facilitate these improvements by developing, implementing and managing a variety of programs designed to increase the involvement and support of Montana citizens and public officials in criminal justice.The division is organized to administer and service the following independent, but interrelated, functional components: Criminal Justice Policy Planning, Grants Planning and Management, Juvenile Justice, Fiscal Management, and Crime Data Reporting. 

Job Overview :

The Grants Contract Coordinator is responsible for management of federal discretionary and block grants, and periodic state funds grants. It provides program oversight, technical assistance and monitoring of subgrant programs and program evaluation.The position also facilitates meetings and focus groups to develop a consensus on a wide variety of criminal justice, public safety, crime prevention, alcohol, drug, and violence-related issues. The position coordinates criminal justice, public safety, and crime prevention efforts for the Board, which includes assisting in coordinating an annual crime prevention conference.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field. One year of directly related work experience. Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.

The above knowledge, skills and abilities are usually acquired through a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or closely related field and 3 to 4 years job-related work experience.Job related experience includes program development and planning, research, grant administration, program management or other appropriate field that includes administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Grant management experience Extensive knowledge of program development and design techniques, strategic planning, and new program implementation. Knowledge of how to analyze and use standardized definitions and rules from a federal agency using federal, state and agency regulations and policies. Knowledge of training techniques, information dissemination, as well as public speaking and presentations. Considerable knowledge of data collection and analysis.

Must have the technical and interpersonal skills to analyze complex statistical and narrative information; to recognize emerging issues, anticipate their impacts on state and local justice systems; to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to diverse groups; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with grantees, social service agencies, local law enforcement, county attorneys and the general public.
