The Claude Moore Health Sciences Library (CMHSL) seeks a dynamic, collegial professional to serve as the library liaison to support the research mission of UVA Health. As a member of the Research and Data Services team the liaison serves as the primary contact for biomedical researchers, supporting their research and data-related endeavors. The librarian works collaboratively with other CMHSL liaisons and contributes to a professional, inclusive, and respectful workplace.

Responsibilities
Serves as the primary library liaison to biomedical research faculty, staff, and students, actively engaging with these groups to identify needs, provide support, and create services to further the research mission of UVA Health. Provides expertise on successful approaches to scientific data management and sharing and the application of guiding principles such as FAIR, working both independently and collaboratively as a member of the library's Research and Data Services team. Provides guidance for data-related practices and tools related to the research life cycle, such as data documentation, data management (e.g. through electronic lab notebooks), and data sharing, especially in response to funder mandates. Provides expertise and support for biomedical information retrieval and management, including expert literature searching services and instruction on library resources and technologies. Utilizes research impact indicators, bibliometrics, and digital identifiers such as ORCID to assist individual researchers and teams in tracking publications and demonstrating impact. Supports open access and open science practices through consultations, training, advocacy, and collaboration. Collaborates with other liaison librarians to ensure provision of library information services across UVA Health as a member of the library's Mission Team. Participates in regional and/or national professional organizations related to academic librarianship and liaison role and displays a commitment to ongoing professional development. Pursues research in job related area of interest. Shares scholarly/creative pursuits internally and at the regional, national and/or international level. Participates in library-wide initiatives, including strategic planning, and engages in creative thinking to devise innovative library services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The position is eligible for job profiles Librarian I, II, or III based on an evaluation, in collaboration with University Human Resources, of education, research, teaching, and level of scholarly work.

Librarian I
Education: Master's degree in Library Science from ALA Accredited program or relevant graduate degree. Experience equivalency substitution (per Department of Labor Equivalency Guidelines): Bachelor’s + 4 Years relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.

Experience: 0-4 years experience.

Librarian II
Education: Master's degree in Library Science from ALA Accredited program or relevant graduate degree. Experience equivalency substitution (per Department of Labor Equivalency Guidelines): Bachelor’s + 4 Years relevant experience considered in lieu of degree

Experience: 4-9 years (post degree/experience equivalency).

Librarian III

Education: Master's degree in Library Science from ALA Accredited program or relevant graduate degree. Experience equivalency substitution (per Department of Labor Equivalency Guidelines): Bachelor’s + 4 Years relevant experience considered in lieu of degree

Experience: 9 or more years (post degree/experience equivalency).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous professional experience in a liaison or subject specialist role at an academic library. Knowledge of biomedical information resources. Demonstrated knowledge of tools and techniques of biomedical library research (e.g., PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Covidence, etc.) Understanding of the research lifecycle and data-related needs of biomedical researchers. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace and an ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
