Role

Instructional Leaders will work as a team to develop and implement the school¿s professional learning agenda, supporting the ongoing improvement of teacher practice across the college in the areas of learning and engagement. 

Working with well-established school-based models, as well as the DET¿s Victorian Teaching and Learning Model and associated resources, Instructional Leaders will help drive a culture of growth and consistency across the college.

Responsibilities

The key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to:

Working with the school leadership team and DET resources to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice, and a whole school professional learning plan. Modeling the use of student data to inform teaching approaches at a classroom level and supporting the school to make evidence-based and data informed decisions related to its professional learning plan. Developing and leading the implementation of Professional Learning Communities across the college. Playing a key role in the provision of college-wide professional learning including observation and coaching of teams and individual teachers in the classroom to support improved practice. Demonstrating and modelling exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons. Leading and modelling the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery. Ensuring that the college is managing risk in line with DET requirements, and that an organisational culture of Child Safety is being strengthened and embedded at all times. Providing visible and supportive leadership to the school community at all times, in line with the values of both Mill Park Secondary College and DET. Any other duties as required by the Principal.

Who May Apply

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

VIT LANTITE

To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements. This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.
