What is this career opportunity?

This position will be supervised by the agency’s Education and Customer Services Bureau Chief and will serve as an Administrative Assistant for the Montana Public Employee Retirement Administration. The incumbent will receive, sort, open, date stamp, and distribute all incoming retirement system mail to proper staff for processing. In addition, the incumbent will ensure out-going agency mail is properly sorted for mail pick up and will receive members of the public in the front office and answer general questions about retirement system membership, contributions, payments, refunds, tax withholding and also refer certain inquiries to proper agency staff.

Required Education and Experience:

·High school graduate or equivalent;

·Two years of successful clerical experience emphasizing data entry and independent sorting, prioritizing, and processing of various documents, preferably in a fast-paced production environment;

·Alternative combinations of experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Competencies:

·Successfully operate all assigned equipment;

·Utilize current office software effectively in role;

·Provide excellent written and verbal communication skills;

·Provide and receive general information concerning retirement, survivorship benefits; membership, contributions, payments, refunds, direct deposits, and tax withholdings; and

·Receive, sort, open, date stamp, and distribute all incoming retirement system mail to proper staff for processing.
