Lab Technician 2

The successful candidate must have a B.S. degree in biology, or a related field, and at least one year of laboratory experience, which may include experience gained while a student. Additional requirements include attention to detail in experimental work and record keeping, ability to handle multiple assignments, self-motivation and eagerness to acquire new skills. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Virology and/or Molecular Biology, prior animal work and experience with tissue culture techniques.
Responsibilities can include:
The incumbent will attend weekly meetings with the Principal Investigator to discuss experimental results, conducts literature searches, and presents results in lab meetings.
The incumbent works under supervision, independently and ethically, documents all research data appropriately, and assists other members of the lab.
Assist in evaluation of research methods, procedures, and techniques based on established objectives.
Assist in training other staff members on procedures.
Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education: B.S. degree in biology, or a related field
Experience: One year of laboratory experience, which may include experience gained while a student. Bachelor's degree in related science will be considered in lieu of experience.
Preferred Requirements
Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a Virology lab working with primary neurons, prior animal work and experience with tissue culture techniques. Preference will also be give to candidates with attention to detail in experimental work and record keeping, ability to handle multiple assignments, self-motivation and eagerness to acquire new skills.

Physical Demands
This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
