Overview

Supported by the Office of the Senior Vice President for Health Sciences (OSVPHS), the mission of the Division for Academic Success (DAS) is to create inclusive and accessible learning environments while facilitating academic success through innovative services and programs in partnership with faculty, staff, and students at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

Position Summary & Responsibilities

We're seeking a Testing Center Specialist to join the DAS team The Testing Center Specialist administers and monitors exams taken at the VCU DAS Testing Center. This position provides services to students and faculty in the health sciences programs. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Read exam instructions, distribute exam materials to students, and actively monitor students taking exams
• Explain and answer questions concerning exams and Testing Center procedures
• Ensure a secure testing center environment that supports integrity and the VCU Honor Code
• Implement testing accommodations as provided by the Sr. Testing Center Coordinator
• Troubleshoot and assist students with basic computer issues
• Assist with returning exam materials and other documents
• Protect the confidentiality and security of all exam materials and documents
• Serve as backup to the Sr. Testing Center Coordinator (e.g. schedule exams, respond to student and faculty requests regarding rescheduling and/or makeup exams)
• Data entry and administrative duties (e.g. printing, scanning, shredding) as needed

While the specific schedule may vary based on the needs of the department, the schedule will be between the hours of 7:00am & 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.


Required Qualifications


• High school diploma or equivalent
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Effective data entry and data management skills
• Effective customer service and conflict management skills
• Demonstrated commitment and ability to work effectively with members of diverse populations and varying abilities
• Ability to employ creative problem-solving skills
• Ability to work cooperatively as a team member and independently in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU


Preferred Qualifications


• Experience in disability services with post-secondary students with disabilities
• Proficient with Google platform and Microsoft Windows-based computer programs
