Discord is used by over 200 million people every month for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does on our platform: play video games. Over 90% of our users play games, spending a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games.

This position is US-based only.

As a Sr. Product Marketing Manager for Developer Programs, your mission will be to define and execute programs that encourage and enable developers to effectively use Discord’s social platform for the growth and success of their games and apps. You’ll quarterback cross-functional teams to execute from launch to ongoing program operations to promote adoption, growth, and engagement within the Developer ecosystem to deliver on business goals.

What you‘ll be doing:

  • Program Definition, Go-to-Market Planning and Execution: Develop programs and support Go-To-Market strategies that are grounded in customer empathy and effectively increase the number of game and app developers who are actively and successfully using Discord to grow their businesses.
  • Messaging and Positioning: Create clear, cohesive messaging that lands the value proposition and the “why” with key audience segments.
  • Market Awareness: Gain an in-depth understanding of the Developer ecosystem, including its competitive and partnership landscape, and use this insight to inform program strategy.
  • Voice of the Customer: Understand our target audience segments and act as an internal champion for the customer, ensuring their needs guide our marketing strategies and inform our program definition and plans.
  • Content Strategy and Development: Deliver the right content to meet the developer where they are and enable their success, be it videos, product demos, case studies, blogs, articles, training materials, etc.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Quarterback planning and execution across cross-functional teams. Inform, inspire, and enable partners across the organization to drive superior execution and business impact.

What you should have:

  • 7+ years of product marketing experience, including 3+ years of experience with a developer audience.
  • A deep empathy for Developers and passion for Discord’s mission and the role Developers have to play in the growth of the business.
  • A strategic thinker who is curious, resilient, goal-oriented with a bias for action, and can look at the big picture to connect dots and create clarity in an often ambiguous environment.
  • An exceptional communicator who creates clarity for internal and external customers through intentional, organized verbal and written communication.
  • The ability to lead effectively through influence and comfortable working cross-functionally across the entire business, catalyzing and inspiring teams to align with a common goal and do their best work.
  • Stellar writing and content creation skills, including compelling video scripts, and articles for user education.
  • A growth mindset. Someone who views learning as a lifelong journey and is constantly looking to expand their tools and knowledge to become a better version of themselves.

Why Discord?

Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We‘re a multiplatform, multigenerational and multiplayer platform that helps people deepen their friendships around games and shared interests. We believe games give us a way to have fun with our favorite people, whether listening to music together or grinding in competitive matches for diamond rank.
