Summary

The Administrative Specialist (International Program Coordinator) position is located in the Department of Program Services (DPS), Judicial Services Office (JSO), Judicial Programs Division. The JSO provides support, services, and programs to address the needs and concerns of federal judges-Article III (court of appeals, district, and Court of International Trade), territorial district court, Court of Federal Claims, bankruptcy, magistrate, and their staffs.

Duties

This position will report to the Judicial Programs Division Chief in the Judicial Services Office (JSO). The JSO is seeking a self-motivated professional Administrative Specialist to serve as the International Program Coordinator in the Judicial Programs Division to support the . Judicial Conference Committee on International Judicial Relations (IJRC). The JSO serves as a liaison, consultant, advocate, and resource on matters that affect judges within the Administrative Office (AO), and with the Federal Judicial Center (FJC), the . Sentencing Commission (USSC), executive and legislative branches of the federal government, the public, and others.

The incumbent will provide program and high-level administrative support to the staff of the Judicial Conference Committee on International Judicial Relations (IJRC). With federal judges as members, the IJRC works to advance the administration of justice and the rule of law around the world in cooperation with foreign judiciaries. To advance this mandate, the IJRC's staff work in partnership with the Congressional Office for International Leadership; the United States Agency for International Development, the United States Patent and Trademark Office; the United States Departments of Commerce, Justice, and State; and other federal agencies and international development implementing partners. The ideal candidate must possess excellent judgment and strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills, and have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team with colleagues and external stakeholders.

The duties of this position may include, but are not limited to: Coordinating and serving as a primary point of contact for requests by the IJRC's partners for federal judicial participation in international rule of law programming. Maintaining effective working relationships with IJRC partners, both governmental and non-governmental. Arranging briefings by federal judges and judicial employees for foreign judicial officers visiting the Administrative Office and the federal courts. Conducting subject-matter research to prepare federal judicial participation in rule of law programming. Assisting federal judges and judiciary employees working in international rule of law programs which includes adapting and preparing presentations, correspondence, and briefing material applicable to programming and initiatives. Developing and maintaining a library of substantive material relevant for federal judicial participation in rule of law programming. Maintaining a database of international rule of law work by federal judges and judicial employees. Participating in and collating notes for regular interagency meetings of IJRC partners. Assisting with drafting the minutes and reports relating to meetings of the IJRC and international work involving the federal judiciary. Performing administrative duties including proofreading and maintaining a calendar of program activities and internal reporting deadlines. Supporting the planning and execution of meetings of the IJRC, including logistics, scheduling, correspondence, and materials preparation.
