Position Summary:

Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS) Director

This position serves as the Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS) Director authorized under K.S.A. 74-5702(f). The summary function of the KCJIS Director is to carry out the tasks identified by the KCJIS Committee.

Position Responsibilities:

Fulfill the administrative functions of the KCJIS Committee. Assist agencies in the development of project plans, budget requests, and project management as they relate to the KCJIS systems and needs, upon request of the agency or direction from the KCJIS Committee. Facilitate the coordination of KCJIS related matters between the CEO and Technology leaders of member agencies and relevant end-user groups at the state, local, and federal levels.

Develop and submit grant applications and maintain the performance measures and reporting requirements associated with grants. Coordinate KCJIS meetings and conferences. Educate, inform, and facilitate with the Legislative Branch on KCJIS related issues with individual legislators, legislative committees, Legislative Research, and the leadership of the House and Senate.

Assigned Tasks:

Serve as Chair and coordinate KCJIS meetings. Compose and maintain meeting minutes.

Prepare and deliver reports at the direction of the KCJIS Committee to the Kansas Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

Fully report to the KCJIS Committee results of any conference attended on behalf of the KCJIS Committee including details of information gained that can be applied to the KCJIS system.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience with IT related project management or four years of experience with IT related project management. Additional experience in the areas listed above may be substituted for the required education as determined relevant by the agency.

Ability to manage complex IT projects across multiple IT platforms in multiple state agencies and utilize that ability to support IT managers engaged in KCJIS related projects as requested by those IT managers and the KCJIS Committee.

Ability to work in a positive relationship with a diverse group of IT managers respecting the duties, workloads, and demands of each.

Requirement: Applicants for this position must pass a background investigation, including but not limited to, a fingerprint based criminal history records check. Applicant must maintain a security clearance as a requirement of employment and continued employment.
