Your responsibilities will include creating compelling photographic content across all News Corp platforms, from digital displays to social media promotion and print sections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit comprehensive agency and social media research knowledge, working effectively within a large newsroom environment.
  • Set up props and backgrounds to complement the subject matter appropriately.
  • Collaborate closely with photo editors, editors, art directors, stylists, and models to plan and execute photo shoots.
  • Implement ideas from team members and brainstorm visual content that aligns with editorial themes.
  • Manage multiple photoshoots and deadlines within a structured weekly schedule.
  • Adapt swiftly to varying assignments and adjust photography style as needed.
  • Conduct on-location photoshoots for specific stories or features as required.
  • Coordinate logistics and equipment for shoots outside the studio.
  • Operate and maintain studio photography equipment proficiently.
  • Edit and retouch photos to meet publication standards and deadlines.
  • Adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Stay updated on photography trends and apply new techniques as appropriate.
  • Ensure photographs meet the newsroom's quality and style standards.
  • Review and refine work based on feedback from editors and stakeholders.
  • Efficiently manage time and resources to maximize productivity.
  • Meet strict deadlines for publication schedules.
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in a photography role, preferably as a photo assistant or photographer.
  • A background in editorial production, conceptualization, and assigning fashion, still-life, and portrait photography, with a clear understanding of News Corp's approach to various coverage areas.
  • A broad network of stylists, prop houses, and modeling agencies.
  • Familiarity with web tools, content management systems, and photo editing software such as Capture One, Photoshop, and PhotoMechanic.
  • Excellent news judgment and a strong understanding of mobile-first design.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • A drive to engage new audiences, with an understanding of audience data and SEO-friendly presentation.
  • A creative vision and enthusiasm for developing and collaborating on new ideas.
  • A self-starter mindset, capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
