The Youth Artist Mentor is responsible to assist with delivering activities provided for tweens and teens to ensure that it is aligned with the vision and focus of the Innovation & Expression Studio.

The Youth Artist Mentor is accountable for helping out with the program areas, collaborating and assisting the Youth Artist Instructor and Teaching Artist.

The position supports all studio programs and curricula for all members grades 6th - 12th and assist with all special projects and supportive functions related.

Responsibilities:

/p pbremPrepare youth for success/embr Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.

br Encourage youth to express their personalities and thoughts through the creative process while still adhering to dress code and other rules and expectations.

br Exemplifies and promote daily engagement with Harland's Club value of Bravery.
br Provide instruction that encourages youth to explore, understand, appreciate and apply creativity.
bremProgram/embr Recognizes Club members for program participation, efforts, and achievement.
br Encourage retention and participation.

br Adheres to the Wallace Foundation's 10 Principles of High-Quality Arts Programming, as adopted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro AtlantabremSupervision/embr Creates an environment of clear structure and boundaries and utilizes positive youth discipline and behavior guidance as needed.

br Ensures a productive work environment by participating in weekly Club staff meetings.
bremSupplies/embr Keeps supply room neat and orderly.
br Instruct youth in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
bremFacility/embr Ensures program area is attractive, neat and clean and bulletin boards and notices are current.
br In partnership with the Studio Director, make and/or recommends needed repairs to facility and/or equipment.

brOther Responsibilitiesbr Participates as part of a team to run quality programs by helping out where needed or directed, which may include driving the Club van.

br Participates in training/educational opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.

br Handle other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary or important as assigned by the Director of Creative Youth Development, the Studio Director, the Music Studio & Production Director, or Executive Artist Director.

/p pbrSKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

/p pbr High School diploma or GED.
br Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of three years where:
bro There is experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development.
bro Formal training, and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging learning experiences.
br Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
br Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
br Effectively manages relationships and brings problem-solving mentality to all relationships with all stake holders, including the general public.
br Ability to plan and implement quality learning programs for youth.
br Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.

br Ability to be flexible in working different programming spacesbr Utilizes resources for free and donated supplies and encourages donations from community contacts.

/p pbrCommunity-based location that serves youth, families and community members daily.
Frequent host site for organizational and communal meetings and events.

Some required travel to Club locations and community partners.
Frequent deadlines.
Atypical work schedule, including evening and weekend work.

The position requires walking and climbing stairs; Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

Estimated Salary:
$20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
