Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for supporting ongoing efforts to document and monitor internal controls under the Institution's centralized internal controls monitoring program. This program is intended to facilitate documentation of major Institutional business processes, identification of related business risks, and implementation of appropriate internal controls to mitigate those risks. The objective of this program is to help prevent or detect errors in financial reporting, as well as help facilitate effective operational throughput. This individual will work with the Director - Internal Controls to coordinate and execute the program with regular reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with Director in building and facilitating the internal controls monitoring program including scoping, setting the calendar, orchestrating, and executing limited sample testing on, summarization and communication of test results.

Manage internal compliance routines and assessments to ensure ongoing compliance with the established internal control frameworks (COSO), including but not limited to all accounting processes and research and grants Uniform Guidance requirements.

Facilitate analysis and walkthrough of all controls, make recommendations for modification and improvement, and evaluate for optimal financial performance of the accounting and finance organization.

Lead documentation of transactional processes utilizing Microsoft Visio, Word, and Excel. Partner with management in the identification and implementation of process and control improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and the efficiency of the Institution's business process controls.

Assess and implement formal internal control improvement plans, timelines, and implementation of controls by collaborating with all impacted areas and senior management.

Participate in internal and external audits; track and monitor reported deficiencies to ensure timely correction. Seek, implement, and monitor improvements in the Institution's control environment to achieve effectiveness and efficiencies.

Ensure adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements and to departmental policies, practices, and procedures. Help facilitate development of new policies as necessary, as well as refinement of existing policies as necessary.

Perform all other related duties as assigned.
