Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Systems Design Engineers to Lead Client thermal development of pre and post silicon engineering. Interface with silicon and system CPU/GPU architecture teams, design and performance, BIOS and SMU engineering, customer engineering. Create documentation for silicon level thermal, power, and cooling requirement outward messaging to customers. Thermal design, modeling, testing, and debug of mobile products. Work across client engineering to ensure delivery of class-leading designs. Continuously investigate and enable ways to increase process efficiency. Apply expert knowledge in heat transfer and fluid mechanics with advanced level experience in system CFD modeling using Icepak or Flotherm. Mechanical CAD modeling with Creo or SolidWorks. Influence floorplan optimization and IP location for thermals. Understand power, performance, and thermal issues and interactions at silicon level and quickly identify issues and drive alternate solutions. Exercise deep knowledge of all key thermal components and new technologies including fans, heatsinks, shielding, spreaders, thermal interface materials. Utilize knowledge of CPU and GPU architecture and thermal controls for APU/CPU, GPU, and combinations of these. Engage in cross functional interaction with silicon architecture teams including packaging and SOC. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Under supervision, exercise limited judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires three (3) years of experience with the following technologies and/or skills:

1.Testing, CFD analysis, and thermal design;

2.Hardware validation;

3.CAD tools;

4.CFD Modelling;

5.Thermal Management;

6.2.5D/3D Package Modelling, Characterization, and Validation; and

7.Operation of Lab equipment.
