Senior Social Worker

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Incumbent is a professional social worker assigned to the Mental Health/Behavioral Science Section of Social Work Service.
The incumbent must use a high level of skill in assessing and treating the complicated psychosocial problems of Veterans referred to the Mental Health Clinic.
The incumbent completes thorough psychosocial assessments as part of the consult process when initially seeing Veterans referred to the Mental Health Clinic.
Other social work services include short-term, solution focused counseling with individuals and families who may be in crisis, supportive counseling, and referral for resources and benefits.
Must have a high level of skill and expertise to establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans in the Mental Health Clinic and/or their families.
The incumbent is able to independently work with Veterans and their families who are experiencing a wide range of complicated medical, psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems.
Must independently complete thorough psychosocial assessments to determine the psychosocial functioning and needs of Veterans and/or their families.The incumbent must be able to utilize this assessment in facilitating the Veteran's maximum use of treatment for attainment of the highest level of independence that is possible and practicable.
Must actively participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and actively participate through collaboration with Veterans and family as well as interdisciplinary treatment team members in the development and implementation of a resident centered treatment plan.
Must possess a working knowledge and experience in use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic, and traumatic illnesses, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.
Must also have a thorough knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V).Must facilitate discharge planning through collaboration with Veterans and their families as well as interdisciplinary treatment team members to ensure that appropriate discharge plans are executed in a timely manner.
Must serve as a liaison between Veterans and/or their families and VA and community resources in order to ensure thorough delivery of services.
Total-Rewards-of-an-Allied-Health-VA-Career-Work Schedule:Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases
Paid Time Off:
37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.
