Job Description
HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) COORDINATOR, Aeronautics and Astronautics (AeroAstro), to perform a variety of HR-related duties. Responsibilities include processing employee life cycle changes (i.e., hires, extensions, terminations, promotions, etc.); handling new visa applications and renewals; onboarding and orienting new employees/postdocs/visitors; collaborating on and executing rewards and recognition programs; database maintenance; partnering on managing the annual review process; approving payroll distribution for employees; overseeing the recruitment process, including creating job descriptions, preparing search plans, advertising, screening and forwarding resumes, conducting interviews, reference checking, etc.; handling disability, leave, and workplace accommodation requests; helping identify employee training opportunities; and performing other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; two years' HR experience; general knowledge of basic HR functional areas, e.g., employment law, recruitment, employee relations, compensation, policies and procedures, onboarding, performance management, and training; ability to learn and consistently apply general HR policies, regulations, and employment laws; sound judgment and discretion with confidential/sensitive information; excellent organizational, analytical, active listening, problem-solving, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills; proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; ability to identify and learn new programs/software as needed; and support for MIT's commitment to diversity and serving diverse constituents. Must be able to interact effectively with faculty, staff, and others at all levels and from varied backgrounds; prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, sometimes under pressure and within critical time demands; work independently and as part of a team; and seek out root causes of issues, conceive innovative solutions, and move from concept to implementation. PREFERRED: experience using SAP and PeopleFluent, experience with employment visa applications and processing, and ability to analyze and improve/create processes and procedures. Job #23337-6
