Lets do this. Lets change the world In this vital role you will be responsible for leading media portfolio strategy and operations for the Amgen commercial portfolio of brands. Integral to the success of the role will be developing and evangelizing an in-depth understanding of the media marketplace and landscape, with an ability to operationalize the now while creating approaches to build for the future. The Director, Media Portfolio Strategy & Operations will play a critical role in setting the team up internally and externally for continued evolution of this central function at Amgen.

The Director, Media Portfolio Strategy and Operations will report to the Executive Director, Head of Global Media. This position will engage heavily with external and internal stakeholders and directly manage a team of Sr. Managers.Responsibilities:

Lead the creation and implementation of portfolio level initiatives to drive the central media capability forward. Do so with an ability to address whats needed right now while also building for tomorrow. Partner with marketing and external agencies in creation of enterprise-wide programs and negotiation strategies (e.g., Joint Business Partnerships, multi-brand pilot opportunities, etc.). See programs through from sell-in to implementation and optimization in partnership with Media Directors. Through oversight of your team, oversee operations of all enterprise workstreams, many of which include multiple stakeholders and a need for varying levels of engagement and informs. Build and maintain strong relationships with agency and vendor leadership to drive optimal negotiation practices and to further position Amgen as an industry leader in paid/earned/owned media. With support from Sr. Managers, assess and optimize planning, buying, measurement and financial account management best practices and set up. Act as a sounding board/advisor to Executive Director and peer US Media Directors. Represent business strategy and advise on the activities of key business partners such as Finance, Global Sourcing, and Commercial Data/Analytics in support of media objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners; proactively communicating, seeking advice, and facilitating critical business decisions. Lead agency evaluation processes and find opportunities to improve upon the current state. Lead Global Media Team budget management. Identify training, mentoring plans and on-boarding development needs for staff and assist in developing the talent pool. The media driven candidate we seek is a collaborative leader with these qualifications.Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree and 4 years of media and/or marketing experienceOr Masters degree and 8 years of media and/or marketing experienceOr Bachelors degree and 10 years of media and/or marketing experience In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years of experience in paid media/marketing with a focus on planning, buying and measurement at a brand and enterprise level Deep knowledge of the paid and earned media landscape, with a robust understanding of current capabilities/vendors and where the industry is heading. A background in bringing strategy to life through operational best practices, communication planning, and organizational change management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in translating detailed processes and activation plans into clear and concise senior leadership level updates. Direct hands-on-keyboard experience with paid media, social, and measurement platforms (e.g., Meta, LinkedIn, Trade Desk, Google Analytics, Tableau/Datorama, etc.). Understanding of the changing data privacy landscape (pharma or highly regulated industry specific experience a plus) Desire and ability to take initiative and find opportunities to work smarter and more efficiently and implement with excellence. Comfortable with inspiring change and navigating internal and external impact accordingly. Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-moving, matrix environment with little oversight. Outstanding time management and self-prioritization skills Preferred experience working within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. Preferred experience working with or within a media agency. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
