Position Summary

The Director, SAP Enterprise Asset Management will report to the Sr Director, Work Management Solutions.

This role will help lead the Propel program at PG&E which is a full-scale business transformation coupled with migration of SAP from ECC to S4/HANA. The Propel program will drive significant business value in our engineering, operations, supply chain, finance, and HR business areas.

This role will specifically focus on Enterprise Assessment Management module to provide oversight of implementing end-to-end work management processes for Utilities/ Asset heavy industry using standard SAP S/4 functionality and drive fit-to-standard mindset during process redesign.

This role will cover entire IPSECA of work management process. The technical scope includes key elements of the SAP S/4HANA application and adjacent platforms to be determined during the design phase of the program.

You will lead external partners as well as internal IT resources to execute the program. You will collaborate and interface with the Business Process Transformation team daily to ensure that there is alignment of the technical solution to business objectives.

This position will be based at PG&E headquarters in Oakland, California. The candidate should be willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay area, if not already local, and commute into Oakland, CA office at least 3 days a week.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Job Responsibilities

• S4/HANA Migration: Drive and lead all aspects of the successful migration from legacy SAP systems to S4/HANA across the organization. Collaborate with business area teams to define the migration roadmap, ensure project timelines are met, and minimize disruptions to business operations.
• Lead SAP Fit to Standard Strategy: Implement SAP through configuration of software out of the box and by adopting industry best practices in Asset and work Management area.
• Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with SAP solution providers, system integrators, and consultants. Evaluate and select external vendors as needed. Negotiate contracts and ensure service level agreements are met.
• SAP System Governance: Establish and maintain effective governance processes to ensure compliance, security, and data integrity across SAP systems. Develop and implement standards and policies for SAP system management.
• Team Management: Upskill current coworkers and bring in new coworkers that will own best practices and possess SAP S/4HANA functional product expertise. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
• Team Member Engagement: Collaborate closely with key team members, including executives, business leaders, and IT teams, to understand business requirements and align SAP initiatives with business.
• Budget and Resource Management: Develop and lead the SAP budget, including forecasting and cost control. Optimize resource allocation to improve efficiency and effectiveness of SAP initiatives.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest advancements and trends in SAP technology. Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and innovation to drive business value.
• Function as a subject matter expert in work management process and technology vision
• Keep up to date on industry trends and technologies and apply them quickly to our business process improvements

Compensation

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $178,000

Bay Area Maximum: $304,000

Background Qualifications

Minimum

• Minimum of B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, information technology, business administration, engineering, or other relevant field requires.
• Minimum of 10 or more of relevant technical and leadership experience within a company (IT leadership) or industry consulting responsible for technology strategy, planning, and client relationship work experience required.
• Experience in leading large / complex SAP S4/HANA program (budget of >$100M)
• Experience working in multi commodity utility or global setting driving enterprise standards.
• Minimum one lifecycle of S4/HANA EAM in production
• Strong work management functional/process experience.

Desired

• Utility industry experience or adjacent industry experience
• Minimum of 20 years of experience in SAP program delivery and operations, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of SAP modules, including but not limited to SAP EAM/ Plant Maintenance, Project Systems, Supply Chain, IBP, Scheduling, Dispatch, and Field Mobility products.
• Experience in integrating with GIS technology (ESRI preferred)
• Experience in implementing integration technologies (BTP, MuleSoft preferred)
• Production operations experience with SAP S4/HANA (any deployment – data center, hyperscaler, RISE)
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to encourage and empower a team.
• Proven experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and budget management.
• Strategic problem solver who translates business needs into SAP solutions.
