JOB DESCRIPTION
As the Sr Strategist, Talent Outreach and Candidate Experience for Development and Alumni Relations (DAR), you are responsible for sourcing, attracting, and hiring top-tier talent to meet the staffing needs of the Development and Alumni Relations team. The role involves collaborating with hiring managers to understand their staffing requirements, devising and executing effective recruitment strategies, and managing the end-to-end recruitment process to make sure that all candidates have a best-in-class experience.

As a key member of the Talent Management team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the continued growth and success of our philanthropic efforts by identifying individuals who are passionate about development and possess the skills and experience needed to drive our organizational initiatives forward and achieve our goals. This is a new role that will help drive departmental success through recruiting and hiring top candidates and ensuring that Vanderbilt's development and alumni relations team is a destination employer.

Key Functions and Expected Performance:

Create and implement effective strategies to attract and hire top talent across all of DAR.
Collaborate closely with hiring managers to understand their specific needs, competencies, and requirements for roles, and tailor recruitment strategies accordingly.
Utilize various and creative recruitment channels, including job boards, social media, networking events, and industry-specific platforms, to source a broad and diverse candidate pool.
Proactively reach out to passive candidates to develop and maintain ongoing relationships to encourage their interest in opportunities within our organization.
Utilize systems to track and manage relationships with all candidates.
Screen resumes, conduct initial screening interviews, and assess candidates' qualifications, skills, and compensation suitability for positions.
Work closely with hiring managers to schedule interviews, ensuring a smooth and efficient recruitment process where all candidates receive a best-in-class experience.
Provide updates to candidates and hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
Provide support and guidance to hiring managers and DAR interviewers throughout the recruitment cycle, including facilitating candidate evaluations and decision-making.
Act as a liaison between DAR and the Vanderbilt Human Resources Talent Acquisition department.
Utilize the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to review candidates and update their status.
Maintain accurate and timely records of open positions, candidate interactions, interview feedback, and recruitment metrics.
Represent our organization positively and professionally at recruitment events, job fairs, development conferences, and other networking opportunities.
Collaborate with leaders in DAR for representation at key opportunities.
Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and developments in fundraising techniques to better understand the skills and qualities required for development roles.
Maintain and nurture pipeline of talent and identify future opportunities that align with their experiences and interests.
Partner closely with the DAR Communications team to create our branding efforts towards potential candidates and develop specific employee value proposition specific to DAR.
Cross train in other Talent Management areas to provide backup support when needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Relationships:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

This position reports administratively and functionally to the Senior Director of Talent Management.

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, is necessary.
5 years of relevant recruitment/sourcing experience, or the equivalent, is necessary.
Prefer at least 5 years of relevant recruitment/sourcing experience of all range of positions, from entry-level to senior level.
This is not required, but preference given to experience working within higher education, non- profit, development, or other large organizations.
Communication skills with the intellectual depth necessary to effectively relate to all audiences, from entry-level to senior level.
Clarity, crispness, and effectiveness in written and oral presentations.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the credibility, maturity and sound judgment required to effectively engage with all potential candidates.
Proven experience working with hiring managers and navigating their busy schedules.
Proven ability to manage effectively during times of growth and change.
Occasional travel, including evening and weekend work required as necessary to attend career fairs, conferences, etc.
Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
Ability to execute projects within established processes, including delegation of tasks, materials organization, and managing deadlines.
Capacity to perform in an intellectually rigorous and complex environment.
Demonstrated ability to analyze, use, and present data.
Exhibit personal characteristics enabling effective interaction with important constituencies and possess a genuine commitment to the advancement of education and to the principles governing Development and Alumni Relations.
Work Environment:

This is a hybrid position located in Nashville, Tennessee where you can expect to be in the office approximately 1 day per week, or more depending on business needs.
