About the Role:

To achieve our mission of "data in motion" one of the key problems that needs to be solved is providing connectivity to Confluent Cloud, across all the major hyperscalers (AWS/Azure/GCP) at low cost, with massive bandwidth, while ensuring enterprise-grade security. Solving this problem is the mandate of the Traffic and Networking org. The opening is for a Principal Software Engineer within the Traffic and Networking org, and represents a technical leadership role within the organization. We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated proven expertise in cloud networking, and distributed systems, while having experience building networking data-plane and control-plane components leveraging Linux subsystems. We are looking for candidates who are interested in solving problems related to high bandwidth low-cost multi-cloud networking, elastic Layer-7 and Layer 4 load-balancing and auto-scaling, as well as writing highly scalable distributed network controllers.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead strategic projects involving design/implementation of next generation of network controllers as well network data-plane components for Confluent Cloud
  • Propose and build cost-efficient, scalable, and secure network architectures for Confluent Cloud, which works across hyperscalers as well as for hybrid clouds

What You Will Bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, building large scale distributed systems
  • 10+ years of industry experience in building large case software systems
  • Expertise in cloud networking and distributed systems, building networking data-plane and control-plane components leveraging Linux subsystems
  • Preferred experience in working through the intricacies of connecting to major hyper scalers (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • M.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, a Ph.D. in a related discipline is a plus
