General Description:Assist the Director of Sales and Marketing with the Center's marketing efforts including achieving optimum use of space and rental revenue, while achieving maximum economic impact for the region. Will act as a liaison with meetNKY and area hotel group sales efforts. This position reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing. Set schedule Monday through Friday, may require some weekend and evening hours as needed. Responsibilities:
  • Working with Director of Sales and Marketing using forecasting techniques to determine the "best use of space" to achieve business goals, as well as evaluate each piece of business and determine if business will generate the greatest return.
  • Assist Director of Sales and Marketing in overall obtaining sales of the facility to include proposals, presentations, negotiations and closing of sale.
  • Attain budgeted revenue goals.
  • Handle incoming event inquiries as well as potential walk-in customers and existing clients.
  • Act as liaison to meetNKY and area hotel sales and marketing staffs.
  • Assist meetNKY in attaining annual room night goal.
  • Enter all details into Sales Automation System, documenting conversations and commitments made with clients to facilitate a seamless transfer of the group to the Event Planners.
  • Conduct in-house tours for prospective clients.
  • Assist Director of Marketing and Sales with the coordination of special events, promotional tours, familiarization tours, and Center-related promotions.
  • Entertain potential as well as existing clients.
  • Represent the Center at community functions, partner groups, business outings, trade shows and other events otherwise deemed suitable for the Center's participation.
  • Assist Director of Sales and Marketing in creation of collateral and advertising.
  • Welcome clients upon arrival for event – coordinate with Event Planners.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of the hospitality industry.
  • A minimum of three years previous experience in event coordination – preferably in a convention center, hotel, public assembly facility or in exhibition/event/meeting planning.
  • Familiarity with industry associations, convention and tradeshows as well as local market segments.
  • General technical knowledge of the meetings and exhibition industry inclusive of building policies and health, life and safety codes.
  • Knowledge of and proven experience in computer programs – e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Ungerboeck (Momentus) and ability to quickly learn new software programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral. Public speaking experience a must; ability to work under pressure with ease and composure; ability to learn and made decisions quickly, retain information and pay attention to detail.
  • Planning, organizational, time management skills, demonstrated supervisory and leadership abilities. Good understanding of team concept and total quality management.
  • Community involvement in volunteer projects within the region.
