As the Ocean Freight Forwarding Manager for TQL Global, you will be partnering with our Director of Freight Forwarding and be directly responsible for the development and growth of our international ocean business. This includes overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all ocean freight operations. You'll be leading a team of ocean operators, developing and growing relationships with steamship lines, and ensuring all shipments are processed efficiently and in compliance with international regulations.

Leading all aspects of our ocean freight forwarding operations, including booking, documentation, shipment tracking, troubleshooting, and delivering on customer expectationsDeveloping, leading, and managing a team of ocean professionals to exceed performance targets and provide industry-leading customer serviceReviewing and improving departmental and personalized objectives, expectations, and goals for the ocean operations teamAssisting in developing and executing strategies to optimize ocean operations and improve efficienciesBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with ocean carriers, terminals, and other service providersHelping resolve issues with steamship lines, ports and container stations, and carriersReviewing and negotiating rates and contracts with ocean carriersEnsuring compliance with applicable regulations, other government requirements and filings, and company standards Assisting in vendor management to ensure carriers and foreign agents are following proper protocols Communicating and verifying understanding and compliance of policies, procedures, and SOP's to employees across the organizationPerforming operational tasks and/or offering coverage/support for team members when neededWhat you need:
5+ years of ocean freight forwarding experience3+ years of leadership experienceFamiliarity with freight forwarding software and tools, CargoWise preferredIn depth understanding of ocean freight forwarding operations at a mid-to-large organizationStrong leadership abilities with a focus on performance management and employee developmentAbility to excel with strategic and tactical responsibilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsProven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, high-performing environmentStrong analytical skills, attention to detail, sense of urgency, and ability to prioritize tasksDeep understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and other government requirementsFamiliarity with freight forwarding software and tools, CargoWise preferredBachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or related preferred
