Main Purpose of Job

To support the Division's compliance with the State and federal laws for the special education of students with disabilities the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) including:\r
\r

• Prepare and interpret reports to assist state staff and public agencies in identifying areas of noncompliance that require improvement.\r

•Maintaining databases, collecting, compiling, and analyzing data that results from due process hearing decisions, mediation agreements, complaint investigations, and State and federal court decisions; and\r

•Creating reports for annual federal reporting purposes; and\r

•Acting as the liaison between the Branch and the Office of Administrative Hearings; database vendor; and other relevant agencies.\r

POSITION DUTIES

Responsibilities within the Branch and Division� ��\r
\r
Maintains, and monitors a tracking system and\r
database for the Branch containing information from due process hearings, mediations, Family Support\r
contacts, complaint investigations, and State and federal litigation.�\r
Creates data reports to support\r
the work of other Branches within the Division.�\r
Creates data reports and analysis for Branch and Division\r
presentations, as requested.�\r
Collects, maintains, creates, and analyzes data reports for annual federal reporting requirements\r
for Division.�\r
Creates and analyzes data reports for Department, Division, Branch needs, as requested.\r
\r
Develops data\r
charts of hearing\r
decisions and mediations and complaint investigations on a\r
quarterly and annual basis,\r
including posting the reports on the MSDE website.�\r
Redacts and posts due process hearing decisions on MSDE's\r
website.�\r
Redacts\r
Letters of Findings are redacted of personally identifiable information and\r
posts on MSDE's web site.�\r
Acts\r
as the liaison with the database vendor to resolve issues, request updates,\r
request technical assistance.�\r
\r
Duties with the Office\r
of Administrative Hearings [OAH]�\r
\r
Serves as staff liaison to OAH�\r
Monitors and tracks\r
resolution sessions\r
Schedules and sets\r
the agenda for quarterly meetings between MSDE/OAH.�\r
Maintains due process\r
hearing and mediation records;�\r
Prepares copies\r
of due process hearing records for case\r
appeals.�\r
Maintains due process and mediation database�\r
Drafts data\r
reports regarding\r
mediation/due process hearings, as\r
requested.�\r
Monitors requests\r
for due process and mediation, notifies Complaint Investigators when active cases\r
are the subject of a due process hearing.�\r
Notifies Complaint Investigators of active case resolutions.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�� A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.\r
Experience: Two years of administrative, librarian, teaching or rehabilitation work in education, library or rehabilitation programs.\r
