Cardinal Ritter Senior Services (CRSS), one of South County's largest independent, assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation nonprofit senior living communities, seeks an experienced Director of Human Resources to join our growing team.

The Director of Human Resources role plans, develops, and administers the Personnel and Labor Relations Program within the basic policies of the Agency.

Formulates, implements, and supervises policies and programs relative to selection, orientation, training, promotion, and welfare of all personnel and all employer-employee relationships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for management of the Human Resources Department, which includes oversight of the Manager, Employee Health and Education and the Payroll Department.
  • Assists in establishing/monitoring goals and objectives for the Agency.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the area of governmental guidelines/regulations regarding employee relations and unions.
  • Responsible for ensuring licensure certification updates as they relate to the department.
  • Determines methods/courses of action to achieve departmental and organizational goals through effective programming and financial performance.
  • Prepare/monitors budget requirements with projected expenditures and revenues.
  • Develops, amends, and administers personnel policies and procedures and ensures that the Personnel Manual and Employee Handbook reflect current information.
  • Manages the employment function, to include development of recruiting sources, resume review, job applications, interviewing/selection, testing, preparing job offers in along with the council member/ department manager and manage the new hire orientation program.
  • Responsible for ensuring job descriptions are accurate and up to date.
Assists as needed in the preparation of job descriptions for newly created positions.

  • Conducts and participates in salary surveys.
Ensures that wages are competitive within the relevant labor market. Prepares recommendations to move positions to different grade levels where appropriate. Makes recommendations to increase salary structure based on market conditions.

  • Responsible for the administration of the benefit programs.
Prepares recommendations to revise current programs and implement new programs. Serves as liaison with insurance carrier representatives as needed.

  • Helps supervisors ensure that corrective counseling and disciplinary procedures are followed as needed.
Advises management in these areas and participates in employee coaching and counseling sessions.

  • Participates in employee terminations as needed and ensures all appropriate documentation is prepared.
  • Works with Council to develop and administer the performance management program, including performance appraisal procedures and forms, as well as the annual salary increase program.
  • Responsible for ensuring that personnel files contain relevant and appropriate material.
  • Responsible for ensuring records of personnel activity including applicant flow, turnover, promotional activity, new hire activity, etc.

  • Conducts exit interviews and provides feedback to respective Council member.
  • Develops and administers employee relations activities, including personnel recognition programs, special events, picnics, employee activities, etc.
  • Acts as liaison for union activities.
  • Responsible for ensuring an Affirmative Action Plan is prepared annually.
Job Requirements

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related work experience or other equivalent combination of
education and experience.

  • Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of human resources practices and programs, employment law and
other legal issues in the human resources arena.

Relationship Requirements· Supervises the Human Resources Team.
