Job Description
As a member of the Asset Backed Capital Markets team, you will play a key role in the strategic planning and capital markets needs of the various lending businesses within Block. Block has lending vertices that serve small businesses and vertices that serve consumers. Included are more developed products like Square Loans to small business and Afterpay receivables to consumers as well as newer products in development like Cash Borrow, Loans and Advances to International Square sellers.
You will be responsible for managing third party institutional relationships, sourcing and onboarding investors and lenders, and designing new structures to help fund Square Loans. Additionally, you will serve as a secondary point of contact for investors and lenders for Block's other lending products. You will support the continued expansion of Block's various lending businesses, and help product teams improve lending products across the Block ecosystem. You will report to the Head of Asset Backed Capital Markets.
You Will:

  • Design, document, and implement fundraising structures and strategies including but not limited to forward flow arrangements, warehouse and other leverage facilities and securitizations
  • Identify and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including banks, institutional investors, legal counsel, auditors and business units
  • Advise management and key stakeholders on market color and investor sentiment for strategic decision making
  • Support initiatives to incorporate newer lending products into Square's de novo bank
  • Partner with Block Treasury, Investor Relations and Finance & Strategy teams to develop a framework for balance sheet management across all lending products
  • Contribute to Block's funding growth strategy, product roadmap, and performance tracking by analyzing and evaluating current systems, capabilities and structures
  • Coordinate with the product and data teams to understand asset performance metrics and develop reporting for compliance purposes
  • Maintain and own policies, operational procedures and risk oversight
  • Represent Block Capital Markets at various conferences and panels, as required
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to individuals and teams to build capital markets capabilities

Overall, this role is critical to the ongoing success of Block's lending products and will provide an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to make a meaningful impact and strengthen their skills in the areas of strategy development and execution.
