Duties

Serve as the Security Specialist responsible for the development, implementation, execution, and management of a multi-discipline security program for US Army Acquisition Support Center (USAASC). Serve as point of contact for all classification reviews and determinations. Administer and maintain continuing responsibility and management of the Personnel Security Program by implementing Department of Defense/Department of Army and local policy and procedures. Analyze, validate, and forward requests for interim security clearances. Monitor and manage the Industrial Security Program per the NISPOM and other DOD/DA or local policy and/or procedures. Manage the Information Security Program through development of instructions, policy, procedures, program reviews, and inspections. Develop and implement methods to ensure optimal security program effectiveness. Provide guidance and training to subordinate command or office personnel on the multi-discipline security programs.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Two year trial/probationary period may be required. In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalent level) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI). This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment. See Additional Information section. May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 20% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Providing administrative oversight of a Personnel Security program. AND 2) Applying regulations and policies to support an information Security program. AND 3) assisting with training or providing guidance on Personnel Security, Information Security and/or Industrial Security programs.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12).

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
