Duties include, but are not limited to:
Program Management
Coordinating & integrating programs into a comprehensive package of services that meet the evolving needs of the Veteran population that comply with the Uniform Mental Health (MH) Services handbook, Inpatient MH Services Handbook and VHA's MH Operating Plan
Serving as the alternate spokesperson & advocate for Behavioral Health (BH) programs & patients within the health care system, as determined by the ACOS of BH

Directing patient care needs assessments; identifying gaps in services & supports strategic planning & program development to meet those needs.

Within the local planning process, developing short- & long-range goals & objectives for provision of BH Integrates the BH services into primary functions of the organization
Coordinating/developing requests for programs such as but not limited to both human & budget resources, space, staffing, equipment & supplies
Developing & implementing appropriate policies, procedures, plans & professional standards that guide/support all BH programs
Developing program review and evaluation to ensure that the access, quality of care, customer service, patient satisfaction & utilization management, efficiency dimensions of care are continuously evaluated & improved
Ensuring compliances with all functions and standards of accreditation entities such as Joint Commission & Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities that are applicable to BH programs (assessment of the patient; care of the patient; patient rights, organizational ethics; continuum of care, etc.)
Ensuring programs, processes & procedures are in place to meet VHA performance measures/monitors. Using chart reviews & data analytic methods to improve performance & quality problems

Clinical

Providing clinical consultation to various disciplines & levels of training

Academic, Teaching and Training

Overseeing, developing, coordinating & evaluating academic programs within BH
Involved in training of students as appropriate
Providing leadership, guidance & consultation on staff education/development

Other

Serving as a member of key EPVAHCS managerial bodies
Serving on VISN 17 committees representing BH & EPVAHCS community

Work Schedule
:

Full-time, Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.

m. to 4:
30 p.m.

Must be accessible 24/7 on an on-call basis by phone in the event of any major issues that must be handled immediately.

This is a rare occurrence.

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus):
Authorized.

Recruitment incentives may be authorized to full-time, part time or intermittent individuals in their first appointment as a Federal employee or to a newly appointed former Federal employee with at least a 90-day break in service.


Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance):
Authorized.

Relocation incentives may be authorized to full-time Federal employees who must change worksites & physically relocate to a different geographic area when the approving official determines that without the incentive, it would be difficult to fill the position with a high-quality candidate.


Pay:
Competitive salary & regular salary increases.

When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).


Paid Time Off:
37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience.

Parental Leave:


After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption or foster care placement of a child.


Child Care Subsidy:


After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.
