Principal Scientist - Translational Research (Immunology)

What you will do

The Amgen Translational Immunology and Safety Sciences group based in South San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Principal Scientist to independently design immuno-toxicological evaluation strategy and collaboratively investigate immune related drug safety with in vitro and in vivo approaches to support a variety of pipeline projects.

In this vital role you will supervise lab scientists, lead a close collaboration with toxicologists, pathologists, and scientists within the organization, and with multi-functional teams, design in vivo immuno-toxicological endpoints, and design and perform in vitro assays for various projects and present the work to cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to independently initiate and drive projects, intellectually supervise junior lab members.
  • Contribute to the project development as well as perform cellular immunological techniques, including multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD and in vitro immune cell assays.
  • The candidate with experience in human 3D culture system is strongly preferred.
  • The candidate is expected to have extensive immunology training and strong cellular immunology and cell culture technical skills.
  • In addition, the candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly motivated, creative and collaborative.
  • The candidate should have a track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in the area of immunology.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree PhD, PharmD or MD and 2 years of immunology experience.

Or

Master's degree and 5 years of Immunology experience.

Or

Bachelor's degree and 7 years of Immunology experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Immuno-toxicology experience.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
