As a Senior Principal Scientist in Translational Medicine, you will play a pivotal role in advancing drug development initiatives within the neurology and neuropsychiatry domains.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Senior Scientific Director of Translational Medicine, you will be integral to the late-stage translational medicine team. Your responsibilities will encompass clinical biomarker activities and strategic planning to support drug development across various neurological conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute tailored biomarker and translational strategies, contributing to the formulation of clinical protocols and related documentation.
- Identify suitable assays and collaborate with external vendors for the development and validation of clinical biomarkers.
- Oversee the delivery and analysis of clinical biomarker data, ensuring alignment with project timelines through collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
- Prepare and present comprehensive translational and biomarker findings to both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
- Maintain oversight of timelines related to biomarker data publication, coordinating with medical communications and publication teams as necessary.
- Stay informed on the latest scientific literature to integrate external insights into internal research initiatives.
- Collaborate with laboratory scientists and academic thought leaders to address translational questions arising from nonclinical studies.
- Engage in post-hoc analyses of biomarker data and contribute to publication efforts.
- Support regulatory submissions and interactions as required.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of late-stage drug development processes.
- Experience in managing clinical trial initiation, maintenance, and completion activities.
- Proficient in liaising with contract research organizations and thought leaders to oversee project timelines.
- Demonstrated scientific and leadership capabilities.
- Accountability for meeting timelines and deliverables.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational abilities.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or
- Master's Degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or
- Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in Life Sciences with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field with 8+ years of experience in academia or biotechnology.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical biomarker development.
Compensation: The starting salary for this position ranges from $159,000 to $200,000, with additional incentive cash and stock opportunities based on eligibility.
