Job Description:

Job Summary: The Manager of Coding - Acclaim works directly with the directors and executive directors and is responsible for accurate and timely submission of charges for Acclaim Physician Group's business office. The Manager of Coding - Acclaim provides leadership and directs the daily management of coding operations, while ensuring that risk associated with coding and audit activities is minimal or reduced.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

  1. Applies coding principles that are consistent with government standards as well as payor-specific guidelines.
  2. Monitors coding accuracy of physicians and coders for Acclaim professional billing.
  3. Develops and maintains productivity standards to ensure efficiencies throughout the department.
  4. Develops workflow of coders.
  5. Provides guidance and assistance to providers and other clinic staff with coding and/or billing-related questions.
  6. Evaluates the effectiveness of personnel through annual performance reviews.
  7. Responsible for monitoring and timely coding of all outpatient coding.
  8. Responsible for management of all vendors relating to coding.
  9. Monitors daily/weekly/monthly reports for potential charge issues or revenue leakage.
  10. Supports Epic System upgrades as it relates to coding functions.
  11. Works with Compliance, and supports compliance initiatives as they relate to coding and billing guidelines.
  12. Responsible for reporting of professional coding -including monitoring of PBB practices, leveling, and enturing 100% capture of all charges.
  13. Works with Service Line Administrators to ensure all revenue is captured via reporting functions.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Business, Healthcare, or related field from an accredited college or university. Must have a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certification or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) Certification from an accredited association to include American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) or the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). 5 plus years' of healthcare coding experience is required to include experience in coding for a multispecialty medical group, including for primary care, medicine, and surgical specialties. 2 plus years' of experience leading, supervising or managing staff.

Must have a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certification or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) Certification from an accredited association to include American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) or the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). 9 plus years' of healthcare coding experience to include experience in coding for a multispecialty medical group, including for primary care, medicine, and surgical specialties may substitute for the required education. 2 plus years' of experience leading, supervising or managing staff.
