School Year: August 2024- May 2025 Job Summary
The Campus Minister and Religion Teacher at St. Francis High School is responsible for leading the spiritual development programs and teaching two Religion classes. This role involves directing the LIFE team, coordinating liturgical services, organizing retreats, and overseeing community service projects and engaging students in religious education aligned with Catholic teachings and Franciscan values. The Campus Minister serves under the guidance of the Director of Franciscan Mission and Ministry collaborating extensively within and other school departments to support the spiritual growth of students.
The ideal candidate will:
- Brings a solid background in ministry within a Catholic high school setting, demonstrating an understanding of adolescent spiritual needs.
- Collaborates closely with co-teachers and the Religion Department Chairperson to ensure curriculum consistency and instructional excellence, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the religious education program.
- Demonstrates profound theological expertise with a deep understanding of Catholic doctrine, particularly the Capuchin Franciscan charism, ensuring accurate and inspiring instruction aligned with Church teachings.
- Designs and implements engaging, innovative, and rigorous curriculum that not only adheres to the guidelines set by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops but also makes learning relevant and compelling for students. Embraces a deep commitment to the Catholic faith and Franciscan values, passionately engaging in spiritual education and formation.
- Leads effectively with proven leadership skills to motivate and manage a diverse team of teens, fostering an environment of collaboration and respect.
- Organizes with exceptional skill, managing complex events such as retreats, prayer services and handles multiple priorities efficiently to ensure successful the Franciscan Mission and Ministry program execution.
- Possess knowledge of Religious principles and demonstrated ability to apply in a classroom setting. Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Theology or a related field is required.
- Master's degree in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Ministry or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum three years of experience in campus ministry or a similar role, preferably in a Catholic high school setting.
- Catechetical Certification is desirable. Candidates without the certification must complete within two years of hire date.
- Knowledge of the high school curriculum as outlined by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
- Minimum 1-3 years (preferred) full-time Religion teaching experience in an accredited Catholic high school.
- Active Credential (preferred).
- Proven ability to create and follow through with lesson plans.
- Capability to manage the classroom.
- Proficiency to communicate subject materials efficiently.
- Demonstrated proficiency in technology.
- Successful completion of background check and VIRTUS training.
