Duties

The purpose of this position is to assist the FYSB Associate Commissioner in managing and providing leadership, direction, policy focus and coordination to the multiple formula and discretionary grant programs, activities and staff across the Bureau. Duties include:
  • Ensures FYSB supports the organizations that work to promote youth well-being, prevent and end youth homelessness, and support a holistic adolescent approach by fostering collaborative partnerships across communities.
  • Lead in partnership with youth & young adults; promote diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility; and support data-driven practices.
  • Directs the development of procedures for the management and distribution of grants administered by FYSB, including the Runaway and Homeless Youth Program and the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Programs.
  • Provides overall leadership, policy directions, and program development to other operational units to accomplish work involving major interrelated policy issues.
  • Responsible for providing advice to the FYSB Associate Commissioner and the Commissioner of the Administration on Children Youth and Families (ACYF) on the formulation, development and implementation of legislation and policies for children youth and families.
  • Builds and maintains relationships and collaborative partnerships with diverse agencies and partners, including government agencies, community partners, advocacy groups, and elected officials to advance priorities.
  • Supervises and is responsible for the development of budget projections and budget and policy related requests to FYSB.
  • Supervisory duties include ensuring the quantity and quality of work of subordinates with authority to accept or reject work, planning and scheduling work, evaluating employee performance, advising employees on program, administrative matters and supporting staff development.

    • Establishing and implementing data-driven evaluative practices to drive continuous improvement in youth and young adult serving programs and services;
    • Providing supervision to subordinate managers, including directing workforce development activities, approving performance standards and ratings, planning work to be accomplished, adjusting priorities, preparing schedules for completion of work, and ensuring that diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility are integrated into all organizational initiatives and workplace activities.
