JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Director of Accounting who will report to the VP Finance of Doble Engineering Co. This role is one of the top four direct reports of the VP Finance. The VP Finance is seeking a Controller with the skills, acumen, and social skills to be the next Finance department leader. The Controller has 4 direct reports, including an assistant controller, accounting manager, two staff accountants. This role will be based in our Marlborough, MA office reporting to the VP of Finance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
- Manage accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Revenue Recognition and Consolidated Reporting
- Oversee, manage and assist in posting journal entries, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, performing month-end closing functions, generating financial and statistical reports
- Oversee an Accounting Manager, Sr. Financial Accountant and Accounting staff, provide direction and leadership, and develop, motivate, supervise and
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, including revenue recognition rules (including multi-element revenue recognition as well as VSOE of that revenue)
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting, including Sales and Use Tax filing
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance Support External/Internal audit - management, direction, communications, review, schedules and analysis
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the annual financial statement audit and audit of internal controls by both external and internal audit teams. Ensure timely and accurate completion of deliverables to the audit team, coordinate annual site visits as well as year-round remote audit activities
- Develop, document and oversee processes to support internal controls, and SOX compliance,
- Manage and monitor cash accounts, including monthly cash flow projections, cash account reconciliations and foreign currency cash transactions
- Oversee, manage and monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions, ensure timely billing and process of invoices and payments, monthly reconciliations of A/P in a coordinated effort with divisions/departments and other vendors/suppliers
- Support and manage the payroll function including accounting for labor distribution as well as all payroll coordination and communication with Human Resources
- Make recommendations and initiate change to improve the speed and accuracy of financial reporting
- Work with the VP Finance and Director of Finance to develop KPIs for finance and other functions within Doble
- Be a hands-on person with passion for analysis; communicate clear and concise findings to business leaders
- Be a resource to the VP Finance in sending reports to the parent company
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, MBA and CPA desired
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:- 5 plus years Controllership level experience with at least one company with sales greater than $50M. Experience in multiple division, business unit environment of public company
- Expert level skills in Microsoft Excel with demonstrated data base skills. Access experience would be useful. Database Structure - understand tables and data to facilitate & support Query and Reporting tools/development
- Business Workflow - understand key business workflows, provide support and direction both inside and outside the department on all types of business transactions. Ability to right size high level policies and procedures to smaller non-standard transaction
- Track record for implementing ideas for innovation to improve operational efficiency
- Strong sense of ethics and ability to raise issues/concerns in a professional manner and work through difficult topics across functions
- Significant financial/accounting experience focusing on analytical activities
- In depth and hands on experience in the development and maintenance of a fully integrated ERP/MRP system
- Supervisory experience, proven leadership, communication skills both verbal and written and planning and organizational skills required
- A record of fostering collaboration and leading change
- Experience in audit at Accounting Professional Services (Tier I or II) firm is helpful
- Worked in division of Fortune 500 Manufacturing or Distribution Company
- Knowledge of or exposure to lean, six sigma or similar experience
- Experience with Navision or similar ERP systems
- Multicurrency/International business experience very helpful

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Salary Pay Range Minimum $141, Midpoint $176,642.42
