Summary

As the Assistant Director, you will facilitate the learning and professional growth needs of the U-M Development Community, and contribute to several programs that promote the engagement and retention of Office of University Development (OUD) staff. This is accomplished through the development of learning, performance and other resources in many formats including synchronous and asynchronous, instructor-led and self-paced. Additionally, you will collaborate with other People & Culture (P&C) staff in addressing needs related to OUD?s vision of being a place where people can be their best selves while doing their best work.

Please note: This is a Hybrid Position - Travel to Ann Arbor campus required for in-person classes and other meetings.

Responsibilities*
  • Use a performance consulting approach to help identify solutions for business-related learning needs.
  • Use instructional design methods and adult learning theory to create engaging content in multiple formats, including instructor-led, online/eLearning, and self-paced.
  • Use facilitation techniques to create an engaging, interactive, inclusive learning environment focused on diverse learner needs.
  • Adapt facilitation techniques for course formats such as Zoom and large or small in-person classes.
  • Be an active contributing participant in regular Learning & Engagement (L&E) and P&C team meetings and contribute to the strategic direction of the L&E team.
Required Qualifications*
  • 2-5 years of experience in workplace learning, instructional design and facilitation.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated skill in instructional design and adult learning theory derived from certification, experience and/or Bachelor's degree.
  • Proficient facilitation skills, with the ability to create an inclusive, engaging learning environment and adapt to large and small groups in both online or in-person formats.
  • Maintain confidential information and use judgment on a variety of sensitive subjects.
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the workplace.
